I am a senior majoring in Oceanography and minoring in Chemistry. I am most interested in biogeochemistry and the deep sea. My current project bridges genomics and metabolomics. Using genomes and transcriptomes from marine picoeukaryotes, we are predicting metabolites from the genetic potential to build an in silico metabolome. This exploratory method has applications in comparing metabolomic potential of organisms and to tailor in-house standard lists for more complete metabolomic analysis. I am also working on finding the genes responsible for producing the compound trigonelline in marine picoeukaryotes.
